Free Gingival Graft

Gum grafts (soft tissue grafts) are surgical procedures where a small layer of tissue is removed from the roof of the patient’s mouth (donor site) and then relocated to the site of gum recession (recipient site). It is sutured into place and will serve to protect the exposed root as living gum tissue. Gum graft is a beneficial procedure to replaced healthy attached tissue around teeth that have lost attached tissue due to aggressive tooth brushing, orthodontics treatments or other reasons. There are different types of soft tissue graftings, for example: Free gingival graft, connective tissue graft, lateral Pedicles… that are indicated for different situations of gum loss and and gum recession. Dr. Farhadian will determine which procedure is most beneficial for the patient and will discuss the best option to treat the gum recession around teeth and implants with the patient.
