Lateral Pedicle

Gum grafts (soft tissue graft) are surgical procedure where a small layer of tissue may or may not be removed from the palate of the patient’s mouth and then relocated to the site of gum recession. Also a small pedicle of soft tissue adjacent to the recession area is used as well. The tissue will be sutured into place and will serve to protect the exposed root as living tissue. Gum grafts is a beneficial procedure to replaced healthy attached tissue around teeth that have loss attached tissue due to rough tooth brushing, orthodontics treatments or other reasons. There are different types of soft tissue grafts, free gingival graft, connective tissue grafts, lateral pedicles.. that are indicated for different situations of gum loss and and gum recessions. Dr. Farhadian will determine which procedure is most beneficial for the patient and will discuss the best options to treat the gum recession around teeth and implants with the patient.
