Alveoplasty
An alveoloplasty is a surgical procedure used to smooth and reshape the alveolar bone in areas where teeth have been extracted or have been lost. Alveoloplasty might be indicated prior to fixed or removable prosthetic construction or to provide stability for implant placement. Also for patients wearing dentures, the denture base can rub against the high points, causing sore spots and a bad denture fit. If it can not be fixed with denture adjustments, alveoloplasty is performed to smooth lumps and high points in the jawbone and prevent future sore spots.
